WHat it is.
The Pocket Project is aimed towards uniting young artists and activists from all over the world to show that we can make a change together. It's easy to forget that art is so impactful in society, because we have gotten so used to it. By making clothing into pieces of art, they are more valuable and are able to be cherished by owners for a longer time. To me, reducing the amount of clothing wasted per year is very important, and shouldn't be such a big problem like it is now. Big brands manufacture hundreds of thousands of products every day, lining their store shelves with new and eye-catching items listed at ridiculous prices. And yet so many of us (myself included) are willing to buy them. We don't even think where the materials come from. How are the products made? We need to get it through our heads that the Earth doesn't have an infinite amount of materials, and most of them are ending up in landfills and very little is being incinerated and recycled.
