I've had this crazy idea for a while now, and with the launch of my website, I actually think we have a shot. I call it: the Pocket Project.
Because my main focus is on textile sustainability and recycling old clothes (especially denim) I'd like to create something that inspires others to do the same. I feel like painting on jeans gives them a whole new chance at being loved again, no matter the wear and tear because it gives them a new identity and a new life. Thus I hope that many would like to join me on this mission to come together as a community of activists, artists, and friends to create a monumental project.
Here's the idea:
I want to gather a group of people from all over the world and we all paint something that is meaningful to us provided by the Earth onto a pocket of a loved, worn pair of jeans. It could have to do with traveling, with food, with anything that we are thankful to nature for. Then, send me a picture of that pocket (Reference to the right for cropping examples) and I will form a massive collage of all the contributors on the page linked under Hemisfere called: the Pocket Project.
I'm hoping this idea will be passed on from friend to friend and reach people all over the world! Share it with your friends and let's get started!
